Reading:
Social Studies:
- recognize at least 25 sight words
- read simple sentences
- know the name and sound of each letter of the alphabet
- be able to put sounds together to read simple cvc words (ex: hat)
- write simple sentences that begin with a capital letter and end with punctuation
- comprehend stories and identify the main idea, characters, sequence
- Identify rhyming words
Math:
- recognize and write numbers from 0 - 20
- put together and take apart sets of objects
- recognize shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, rhombus) and 3 dimensional shapes (cylinder, cube, rectangular prism, sphere)
- recognize coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter)
- count to 100
- recognize sets that have more and less
- subitize sets of objects
Social Studies:
- recite the pledge of allegiance
- understand the role of community helpers
- recognize historical figures (Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr. etc.)
- recognize holidays and traditions
- recognize geographic land shapes (mountains, hills, lakes, oceans, plains)
- classify living and non-living objects
- experiment with magnets
- learn about our senses
- healthy habits and safety
- properties of the seasons
